How to Brew Loose Leaf Tea
Brewing a cup of tea using loose leaf tea is much easier than it seems. All you need is a tea strainer, some boiling water and your favorite type of tea. Here are the steps to follow in order to achieve perfect tea every time:
Step 1: Measure Ingredients
For each cup of tea, you will need about 2 grams of tea leaves. If you are using a dense type of tea, you may need 1.5 grams. If you are using a lighter type of tea, you may need 3-3.5 grams.
Step 2: Warm the Tea Pot
Before you add your tea leaves, make sure to warm up your tea pot or cup by pouring hot water into it. This will ensure that the tea infuses at the right temperature.
Step 3: Preparing the Tea Leaves
Add your tea leaves to the teapot or cup. Make sure to spread them out evenly in the teapot so they don’t clump up.
Step 4: Hot Water Infusion
Now it’s time to pour the hot water into the teapot or cup. Make sure the water is boiling and also cover the teapot. This will help the tea leaves infuse better.
Step 5: Steeping
Depending on the type of tea and the strength you want, the steeping time should vary. Here are some recommended steep times:
- White Tea: 1-3 minutes
- Green Tea: 2-4 minutes
- Oolong Tea: 3-5 minutes
- Black Tea: 3-5 minutes
- Herbal Tea: 4-5 minutes
Step 6: Enjoy
After you have reached the desired steep time, your tea is ready to be enjoyed. Don’t forget to remove the tea leaves before drinking. Happy sipping!
