How To Make Authentic Indian Masala Chai


  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 to 3 tbsp of tealeaves (preferably good quality Indian tea)
  • 1-2 tsp of sugar (adjust according to taste)
  • A pinch of ground cardamom
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 small piece of cinnamon bark


  1. Add the water to a medium-sized pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Once the water is boiling, add the tea leaves,cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and sugar.
  3. Stir everything together to combine.
  4. Add the milk and bring the mixture to a boil again.
  5. Once it starts boiling, lower the heat to low and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  6. After 5 minutes, the chai is ready. Strain the chai into teacups and enjoy!
